Introduction.

An acquaintance recently asked me:

"A reader can go onto any number of blogs and see photographs of Big Ben, but where can they go to actually hear Big Ben strike 12? ...or listen to the surf in Porlock? ...or any number of other sounds unique to the U.K., ...or just everyday sounds. Listening to a scene allows the imagination to paint the image for you...making it much more moving and personal, as well as leaving the listener with a lasting impression."

It gave me the idea of starting this blog. I haven't made a field recording of Big Ben striking 12, but I do make amateur field recordings. Many sounds pass us by from day to day, sounds that would fascinate if we were to stop and spare a moment to listen to. Whether they be recordings of beauty hidden in the mundane, or of an environment that has captured my imagination, I want to share them via this blog.
